Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) authorizes 13 public school academies in the City of Detroit. The schools are part of DPSCD’s mission to facilitate a portfolio of outstanding schools that strive to meet the needs of children in the City of Detroit.
As a charter school authorizer, Detroit Public Schools Community District is responsible for oversight of public school academies to ensure they meet their academic goals, are financially sound and comply with state and federal requirements.

Capstone Academy Charter School is residential facility with three sites across Detroit. The adolescent residential treatment programs treat youths with mental disorders and co-existing disorders who have been adjudicated or have committed criminal acts. Students are referred or are required to undergo psychiatric treatment by a court or family service agency.
