New Aline Card by ADP
Greetings DPS Employees:
Detroit Public Schools will soon change the way it issues payroll. Effective November 10, 2014, the district will transition to a paperless payroll system and will no longer provide paper paychecks. Employees will have two options to receive their pay: traditional direct deposit or the new Aline Card by ADP.
If you currently receive your pay by paper check, and you would like to move to direct deposit, you must provide the Office of Payroll with your direct deposit setup information. If you do not, you will automatically be given a new Aline Card. (*More details and deadline dates to make this transition are below)
Please note: If you currently receive your pay via direct deposit, you will continue to receive your pay as you do today, and there will be no change.
Why are we making this change?
A paperless payroll system helps to further improve district-wide efforts toward efficiency in all processes. In addition to the cost-savings that will occur from no longer having to print paper checks, the district will also realize a savings in the administrative efforts that are used to process paper checks.
Nearly 1,000 DPS employees who currently receive paper checks will be impacted by this change, and we want everyone to understand the payment options available to them and the timing for the change.

To ensure this transition is as easy as possible for all affected employees, please pay close attention to the following deadline dates that occur prior to the November 10 change-over:
October 17, 2014
Employees who currently receive paper checks must sign up for direct deposit by this date or they will be automatically signed up to receive the Aline Card. Employees should fill out the attached direct deposit form and return it to the Office of Payroll on the 11th Floor of the Fisher Building before Oct. 17.
November 3-5, 2014
The Office of Payroll to distribute Aline cards to employees from the Payroll Dept. on the 11th Floor of the Fisher Building. All employees must provide their state I.D. and employee I.D. number to receive their personalized Aline card.
- Mon., Nov. 3: Employees whose last names begin with the letters A-I will be able to pick up cards from 2-5 p.m.
- Tues., Nov. 4: Employees whose last names begin with the letters J-R will be able to pick up cards from 2-5 p.m.
- Wed., Nov. 5: Employees whose last names begin with the letters S-Z will be able to pick cards from 2-5 p.m.
