Deborah Hunter-Harvill, Ed.D.
Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill was elected to serve on the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s (DPSCD) Board of Education in November 2016 and currently serves as the Chair of the Curriculum/Academics Committee. Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill is also the Chief Consultant of Hunter-Harvill Education Associates, Inc.
Prior to serving as a Detroit Public Schools Community District School Board Member, Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill served as a superintendent, school principal, and a Special Education and Language Arts teacher. When making decisions, she always asks, Is this good for children?
Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. the Detroit Alumnae Chapter where she recently served as Project Manager for the Delta Teacher Efficacy Initiative through the Delta Research Educational Foundation and has served as Chairman of the National Alliance of Black School Educators Foundation.
Throughout her career, Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill’s achievements have resulted in numerous recognition awards, including being honored as a MET Life Community Awardee and was recognized as a Marygrove College Distinguished Alumni. Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill served as the 18th President of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) and was appointed to the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Democracy for Public Education Council.
