Safety Net Program
The Safety Net Program will operate again this school year. The program is designed for emergency situations when a student is either not picked up from school or no on e is home to receive a student when delivered by Detroit Public School Student Transportation. In the past, the District has operated two centers - one on the east side and one on the west side. This year, only one site will operate. The program will be housed in the West Side Bus Terminal on Greenfield near Joy Road.
Every parent/or guardian must file an emergency plan for their children with the school. If there is no plan, students will be delivered to the Safety Net Program at the West Side Terminal. If students are not picked up by 7:00 p.m., arrangements will be made to place them in Protective Services with the Family Independence Agency.
The Safety Net Program is not a child care center, but a "safety net" for students in emergency situations.
