Diann Banks-Williamson Educational Center (DBWEC) is a Secondary Center-Based Special Education Program serving students ages 14-19 and in grades 9-12 with moderate cognitive impairments, severe cognitive impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorder and severe multiple impairments. We have certified teachers, support staff, and teacher assistants. Instruction is based on the Michigan Curriculum Framework Extended High School Content Expectations and Common Core Essential Elements. Students are assessed with the Michigan Alternative Assessment known as the MI-Access Participation, Supported, and Functional Independence in mathematics, science, social studies, and English Language Arts. Students also receive instruction in life management skills, personal management, and remedial reading.
