“A Nationally Recognized School of Excellence”
Cass Tech Building Update: Wednesday, May 2, 2018
Dear Cass Tech Families and Staff,
As you should know, we informed you yesterday evening through a robocall that school was open today. That information was accurate. Unfortunately, the city’s three major TV stations reported, without confirmation, that the school would be closed. We immediately contacted the media to retract the misinformation.
Although there appear to be continuing complaints of an odor, the District performed a quality air test and the building was cleared for use.
Due to the TV stations’ error, all student and teacher absences will be waived for today, Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Cass Technical High School is the only International Baccalaureate World School in the City of Detroit with a 97 percent graduation rate, earning over $120 million dollars annually in academic scholarships. Cass Tech bears the distinction of being an MDE Reward School for three consecutive years, Best High Schools Bronze Medalist by the US News & World Report, and five-time recipient of the Best High School by the Ford Neighborhood Awards. Through its dual enrollment program, seniors simultaneously graduate with an associate degree and high school diploma.
